Dr. Moriyike Akinosun is a fellowship-trained facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon known for her meticulous, precise technique and calming presence, which help you feel informed, supported, and confident throughout your experience.
Education and Training
Dr. Akinosun’s path to facial plastic surgery reflects both rigorous academic training and a clear sense of purpose from an early age. She always knew she wanted to be a surgeon, and in medical school, she became interested in facial plastic surgery.
She earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago before completing a five-year residency in head and neck surgery at the University of Kansas. During her residency, she was recognized not only for her surgical skill but also for her thoughtful bedside manner and ability to connect with patients.
She went on to complete an elite facial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) in New York. There, she trained under internationally renowned facial plastic surgeons Dr. Edwin Williams and Dr. Keimun Slaughter, gaining advanced expertise in both aesthetic and reconstructive procedures.
Her fellowship experience extended beyond surgical technique. Under this mentorship, she developed a comprehensive understanding of patient care systems and the level of attention required to deliver a truly elevated patient experience.

Personal Life
Dr. Akinosun comes from a high-achieving family that values discipline, excellence, and continuous growth. She competed as a Division I track and field athlete at the University of Illinois, and one of her sisters is an Olympic gold medalist. Another sister works at one of the world’s leading investment management firms.
Growing up in this environment helped shape her drive, attention to detail, and commitment to performing at the highest level in her field.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Akinosun enjoys spending time with her husband and their young children. Her husband is an emergency medicine doctor. She also maintains a strong appreciation for the arts, a passion that began early in life through visual art and piano. As a high school student, her artwork was showcased in galleries near her hometown of Naperville. This artistic foundation continues to influence her work today, informing her aesthetic judgment and approach to facial balance.
